Casonya Williams - Experienced Counselor Working at New Hope

A dedicated community advocate based in Hammond, Louisiana, Casonya Sims Williams is a counselor at New Hope in Baton Rouge. Since May 2022 when she assumed the role, she has been catering to families that have members with mental illness or emotional distress. Casonya Sims Williams provides services such as diagnosis, therapy, skills training, and education. She documents all services following state and company standards.

In addition to diagnostic and therapeutic services, Casonya Williams works closely with other mental health professionals to coordinate care for individuals. These professionals include psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, and school counselors.

She provided therapy and skills training to families with children who had mental illnesses or were emotionally disturbed. She also engaged with people who had mental illness over the phone, achieved short-term goals of resolving crisis events, and facilitated referrals for outpatient and inpatient services.

She has a BA in counseling from Southeastern Louisiana University and an MA also in counseling from Southern University in New Orleans. Her hobbies are reading, dancing, cooking, and completing crossword puzzles.
